Growing Ganet’s – new food growing and feeding programme announced!

We are very excited to announce that the Hilden Charitable Fund has made a grant to Ganet’s Adventure School Fund to finance a new school feeding programme for a year.  This includes a large extension to the existing permaculture garden to grow more food crops for the school.

Ganet’s Adventure School already grows many vegetables including maize, cassava, pumpkins and okra.  Now additional land has been kindly donated by the village Chief and the garden will be extended to cover a much larger area. The crops harvested will be used to provide school meals and any surplus will be sold with profits reinvested back into the school.

The project will begin in March 2014 with preparing the ground for the summer crop.  Cooking pots, bowls, spoons and cups and additional food supplies will be purchased. All students at the school will receive a free school meal.

We’ll be updating on a regular basis on how the project is going so keep checking our website! Many thanks to our Trustee Lisa Bennett who has worked with our School Director, Gertrude Banda to submit the successful bid to the Hilden Charitable Fund, for this growing and feeding programme.
