Bricks Change Lives – we’ve reached our first milestone!

BricksChangeLivesKate

Thanks to all our supporters, loyal and new, we have reached our first milestone of £3,000 for our Bricks Change Lives classrooms project in just 5 days!

Three ways you can involved

1. Change your social media profile picture

Please let your friends know about our campaign. Have you seen our invitation to change your profile picture to one with ‘Bricks Change Lives’? How about joining in?  Two of our trustees, Kate and Amy have had a go.

2. Join the conversation

Help Gertrude and the learners take over the internet – follow us on Twitter and Facebook, tell us about why you decided to get involved and share our updates. Don’t forget to use the #brickschangelives hashtag!

3. Make a pledge

We have already had pledges towards our ‘stretch target’ of an additional £6,674. This will enable us to fund the construction of the fourth classroom block on top of the new foundations. This will mean that we will have met the Ministry of Education criteria for four brick built classroom blocks. You can pledge at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/manageprojects/advanced/bricks-change-lives

Construction update

Whilst we all have been working at fundraising, the builders and parents in Malawi, have cleared the land for the foundations for the fourth classroom block and have begun digging the foundations. The roof is now in place on classroom block three which we funded earlier this year. Precious and her classmates will soon be able to enjoy the move from the leaky grass roofed shelter, where they are studying at the moment.

We have to say many thanks to Frank Banda who is supplying us with these up to date photos of progress at the school.
