We are excited to announce our second group cycle ride, Ganet’s North Downs Adventure, on Sunday 24 June 2012.
The 46 mile loop starts and finishes close to historic Hampton Court on the outskirts of London, location of this year’s Olympic cycling time trial. We will also ride up Box Hill along a section of the Olympic road race route. We are an official Bike Week 2012 event, and will be raising money for the children of Ganet’s Adventure School, a small primary school in Malawi with big ideas.

- Hampton Court Palace by Mike Fleming
Don’t worry, you don’t need to go at Olympic speeds, the ride is intended to be a social experience as well as a physical challenge. We will ride in small groups suited to different abilities, and each group will have a leader who knows the route so you won’t get lost.

Commuters, weekend cyclists, ex-cyclists, casual riders, mountain bikers, roadies, and keep fit fanatics – there’s a place on our ride for you! If you missed out on a place on the London to Brighton bike ride then we’ve got an equally exciting cycling challenge for you.

St Barnabas Church, Ranmore
From Hampton Court we ride through Esher and Cobham and leave London for the Surrey Countryside. We pass along the North Downs through picturesque villages, and then up the famous ‘zig zag’ road at Box Hill – you’ll certainly feel you’ve earned your lunch! From there it’s a gentle route back via Epsom and Kingston. We finish by coasting along beside the Thames and past the world famous gardens of Hampton Court Palace.

The Bell Inn, Hampton by Jim Linwood
We’ve arranged to finish at The Bell Inn beside the river in Hampton, where you can park your bicycle and get together with fellow riders to share stories of the day’s exertions over some well-earned refreshments!
Like our charity, the ride is organised by volunteers so that the maximum possible proportion of money raised goes to the children of the school in Africa which we support. We have set the entry fee at a very reasonable £12 (including free T-shirt) and the fundraising target is a very achievable £80 per rider.

Please note that some sections of the route may change slightly from the map shown.
Thanks to Sainsbury’s Cobham for contributing to lunches for our riders, to The Bell Inn Hampton for providing the arrival venue and British Waterways for permission to use Molesey Lock as our start venue.
